Unshaken though storms may ravage

It’s just 10 years since the nations of the world hailed the herald of this new millennium and we are witnessing political upheavals and natural disasters of catastrophic proportions.
The current tragic plight suffered by Japan’s victims of this horrendous earthquake and nuclear plant explosion – what the media has headlined “Double Disaster” – has I think nearly knocked out from my memory the rather recent earthquake disaster in Christchurch, New Zealand and the devastating flooding in Queensland, Australia – both I remember described by the media as the worst ever in more than 60 years ! Regrettably so, especially when these happenings were taking place almost close to my doorstep – as I’ve been all this while in Singapore, an island located within easy reach of the Pacific Ocean where all these terrible disasters hit ( first Australia and New Zealand down south and now Japan up north. ) Alas, I despair our human memories are indeed much too short !
No wonder I’ve observed how God would repeatedly issue the same warnings as well as His everlasting promises in the Bible if only we care to read diligently and take His Word seriously.
For instance, I was unhappy and perturbed to tell you the truth every time I read or heard someone describing all these disasters as “acts of God”. It’s an oft-used phrase people use to dismiss anything and everything that you can’t find a reason or cause for its occurrence.
Fortunately we have a great and magnanimous God who knows our human frailty and is not so petty as not to excuse our ignorance but He is a God who Patiently waits like a Loving Father for His stubborn children to turn back and seriously show Him the reverence and regard they owe Him.
Allow me to share with you what Jesus actually revealed about God and Himself. I pray you will read these Bible quotes and ponder over them seriously as I believe we all need to get serious with God especially in these uncertain days.
“As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world but to save it.” John 12:47
“I have come into the world as a light so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” John 12:46
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38
“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9
“I am making everything new!” God declared in Revelations 21:5 and “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”
Revelations 21:4
So my dear friends, let us not allow the recent calamities and troubles of the world to shake our faith and trust in God’s Word and let’s encourage and help one another remain strong in the blessed assurance that God’s Love never fails. God is still in full control and His Plan is unfolding. It will be the Greatest Story of the World and like all great stories, it will have a happy ending.

Moving from my Monday Mirror to Wordknights.com

Seven years is a significant and considerable span of time in this changing and confusing world we live in and so I thought, glancing at the pile of previous issues of my Monday Mirror in my hand during one of my recent springcleaning stints around the house. This discovery caused me to pause from my feverish housecleaning endeavor, to sit down and read what I wrote and said on my Monday Mirror back then, seven years ago. Oddly enough, the reading or should I say, rereading turned out to be exceedingly interesting and more revealing than I dared to imagine. It’s as if after 7 years have lapsed, happenings and events have fallen into place and on the personal end, I would like to believe that the passing of time and age has mellowed, refined and smoothed out rough edges in my own beliefs and thoughts. And in that very moment, the idea for this new writing project flashed in my mind. Now after 2 months of germination, the seed has taken root.

This will I hope kick off fresh writing endeavours from my community of WordKnights. I fondly remember you – the group of us who met as the Wordknights in my home, to encourage and help one another keep the passion to pen alive in our hands and hearts. Though circumstances and distance have caused many among us to head off in different directions of the world, one thing I pray, my fellow Sojourners on Monday Mirror and fellow Wordknights, wherever you are in the world, can now connect with me on this blog and we will press on deeper to embrace the fuller revelation that needs to be unleashed by the power of the word in our lives.

It’s time I leave you with this thought that just crossed my mind – an original quote from me :

“To embrace life and live fully is to grow and realise what you truly believe.”   Nellie Har
